Cristina Yang's Character

Position:
Resident

Strengths:
Competitive; ambitious; intelligent; has an excellent memory; always speaks her mind.

Weaknesses:
Bossy; aggressive; questionable bedside manner; tactless; messy.

Likes:
Assisting on unusual, hardcore surgeries.

Dislikes:
Hugs; being told what to do; and losing (at anything!).

Family:
Cristina has a love/hate relationship with her mother who, in Cristina's eyes, is caring but annoying. Her father had passed away right in front of her at the age of nine, which is when she knew she wanted to be a doctor.

Notable Relationships:
Cristina is the first to admit she does not really 'do' relationships - never mind do them well! She has trouble sharing and letting anyone get close, but nonetheless, she started a relationship with Dr. Burke. Soon after, Burke proposed to Cristina, who rather reluctantly accepted. Ultimately, Burke realized Cristina was not ready for marriage and left her at the altar.  After about a year of getting over Burke not really looking for a relationship she kind of fell for the new doctor at SGH, Owen Hunt.

Other:
Cristina thrives in the competitive environment of being a surgeon. Despite her incredible medical skills, Cristina is not much of a people person.

Education:
M.D. Stanford University

Other Skills:
Fluent in Korean & French

Area of Expertise:
Cardiologist Surgeon
